HVAC Marketing Case Study: How Air Pro Grew From One Truck to a Full Crew
A town of about 20,000 people. A family-owned HVAC company. And years of showing up at the top of Google when it counts.
Where it started
Air Pro Heat and Air began like a lot of HVAC companies do... one truck, one owner, and a phone that rang when it rang. Good work, good reputation, but word of mouth only goes so far in a town the size of Ponca City.
The owner happens to be my brother-in-law, so this was never just another account. It was family. That's also why I can share all of this. I'm protective of my clients' business stats, and I don't often share their numbers, much less publish them online. Air Pro is the exception.
What we did
- Optimized the Google Business Profile, including the right primary category, services and service areas
- Kept the profile active with regular posts, fresh job photos, offers and updates
- Built out the website with service pages, local content and structured data so Google understands exactly what Air Pro does
- Tracked rankings every single day and watched the Map Pack street by street with grid scans
- Adjusted quickly when something moved, instead of waiting months to notice
Where they are now
Today Air Pro runs multiple trucks and crews, with a full-time office manager keeping the schedule full. Two of my nephews finished high school and technical school and now work there full time. One is a journeyman technician. The other is that office manager.
Staying in the top 3 of the Map Pack for the searches that matter most, like AC repair, furnace and heater repair, replacements and new installs, has kept their schedule full. Even in the slower Oklahoma spring and fall months, the crews stay busy with repairs, change outs and new installations.
The whole family stays gainfully employed, and the business keeps doing well. And that's the part I'm proudest of.
Watch Air Pro take over the Map Pack
Each circle is a spot on the map where someone searched for AC or furnace repair. The number is where Air Pro showed up. Green means top 3, the spots that actually get the calls.

Grid scans from BrightLocal, an independent local rank tracking tool. The scan area was widened over time to show how far Air Pro's reach grew.
17 straight months in the top 3 on Google in Ponca City
We track 11 local HVAC searches for Air Pro every day. From September 2024 through January 2026, they held the top 3 every single month.

Why this works in smaller towns
In a big city, you're fighting national brands with huge budgets. I'll take those fights too, but they cost a lot more to win. In a town of 20,000 or 80,000, the playing field is smaller, and the company that shows up consistently usually wins.
Most local HVAC competitors post on Google once in a blue moon, if ever. When your profile is active every week, with real photos and real updates, Google notices. So do homeowners.
